How it’s made
It starts before I turn on a microphone.
The finished audio is the visible part of the work. The real process begins with enough time together to understand what is happening, what matters, and what the experience should help make possible.
Here is how a custom guided meditation moves from conversation to writing, voice performance, studio recording, acoustic environment, editing, and final mix.
Clarity & Composition
You do not need to arrive knowing what your meditation should be about. Most people don’t have the whole thing figured out before we begin.
We start with a private 60–90 minute conversation. You might bring a clear goal, a problem, a transition, a feeling you cannot quite name, or simply the sense that something needs attention. If we need more time to get clear, your commission includes a second 60–90 minute session before I begin composing.
This is where 25-plus years of coaching experience becomes useful.
I help you articulate what is happening, what matters, and what you want to make possible. Sometimes finding the right words changes how the issue looks before I have written a single line of the meditation.
At the same time, I am listening for your natural language. The places you remember. The metaphors you reach for without thinking. The sensory details that matter. What has helped before. What pulls you out of an experience. The way you describe the problem and the way you describe what you want instead.
Sometimes the subject is obvious within minutes. Sometimes the more important thing appears underneath the first thing you came in talking about. We take the time we need to find the right starting point.
I write for your attention.
The central design question is simple: what should happen to your attention over the next twenty or thirty minutes?
I decide where the experience begins, what deserves time, where language helps, when silence can do more, which ideas should return, how the pace changes, and what kind of ending the piece needs.
Imagery, breath, repetition, sound, music, and silence are all available to the composition, and each is used where it belongs to suit you.
Then I record it.
Guided audio is intimate. When someone closes their eyes and listens closely, tiny details in the voice become part of the experience.
I record in a professional studio environment and choose from a Shure SM7B and Neumann TLM 102 microphone. The signal chain includes a Neve 88M audio interface, a Klark Teknik 76-KT compressor, and a Klark Teknik 2A-KT optical tube leveling amplifier. I edit and mix the finished work in Logic Pro.
The gear gives me control over closeness, warmth, dynamics, breath, resonance, and the amount of space around the voice. The point is a recording that can hold up to repeated, attentive listening.
I build the world around the voice.
The acoustic environment can change the entire feel of a guided experience.
I work with high-resolution field recordings and other sound materials that can place the voice among water, wind, desert night, rain, insects, distant birds, a quiet tonal field, or almost complete silence.
Some source recordings preserve spatial information that becomes especially vivid through headphones. A sound may stay far away, move through the field, appear once, or disappear before you have fully named it.
I can also use musical material, binaural relationships, tonal layers, and other production tools when they fit. I choose them as parts of the composition rather than promising that any one frequency or technology carries the result by itself.
The environment is chosen for the piece. You do not need to select from a menu of forests, oceans, frequencies, or music beds. That decision is part of the work you are commissioning me to do.
Then I listen again.
I edit the voice, shape the timing, balance the environment, and listen through the piece as an experience rather than a collection of tracks.
I am listening for interruptions that should be removed, silence that needs more room, a sentence that arrived too quickly, an environment that has become too present, or a moment where the voice needs to come closer.
The finished Organic Meditation is usually 20–30 minutes. I also create a 4–5 minute Drop-In from the same core material so you have a shorter way back into the work.
This becomes a private piece of work you can return to for years, anytime you need it.
The reason the process stays open
You don’t have to know what yours needs yet.
Most people don’t. We find the right starting point together, then I make the choices with confidence. The tools are here. The studio is here. The composition starts with what we discover.
